Lebanon Blue Devils Varsity Fights Back In Loss To Hendersonville
Despite a 5-run deficit in the seventh inning, Lebanon Blue Devils Varsity almost came all the way back, eventually falling 11-9 to Hendersonville on Thursday. Lebanon Blue Devils Varsity scored three runs in the failed comeback on a single by Morgan Jones and a double by Anna Smallwood.
Both teams exchanged the lead back-and-forth in the game, but Hendersonville eventually took the lead for good thanks to a double in the sixth inning
Hendersonville took an early lead in the first inning. Kalamon drove in one when he homered in the first inning.
After Hendersonville scored three runs in the top of the seventh, Lebanon Blue Devils Varsity answered with three of their own. Hendersonville scored when Revis singled off of Anna Smallwood, driving in two runs and Smallwood walked Hanson to drive in a run.
Lebanon Blue Devils Varsity then answered when Morgan Jones singled off of Mattei, driving in one run and Smallwood doubled off of Mattei, driving in two runs.
Mattei earned the win for Hendersonville. He threw seven innings, allowing nine runs, 13 hits, and striking out two. Smallwood took the loss for Lebanon Blue Devils Varsity. He went six and two-thirds innings, giving up eight runs, 14 hits, and striking out five.
Lebanon Blue Devils Varsity had 13 hits in the game. Anna Bennett, Brianna Nagelhout, and Jones each collected multiple hits for Lebanon Blue Devils Varsity. Nagelhout and Bennett each managed three hits to lead Lebanon Blue Devils Varsity.
Hendersonville collected 17 hits. Revis, Mattei, Stith, Byrd, Biggerstaff, and Denton each collected multiple hits for Hendersonville. Revis led Hendersonville with four hits in five at bats. Hendersonville didn’t commit a single error in the field. Revis had seven chances in the field, the most on the team.
