Portland Captures Lead Early To Defeat Lebanon Blue Devils Varsity
Lebanon Blue Devils Varsity fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 12-8 loss to Portland on Thursday. Portland scored on a walk by Tomlinson and a grand slam by Parker in the first inning.
Lebanon Blue Devils Varsity lost despite out-hitting Portland 16 to 11.
Lebanon Blue Devils Varsity captured the lead in the first inning. Lebanon Blue Devils Varsity scored three runs when Brianna Nagelhout homered with zero outs in the first inning.
Portland took the lead for good with six runs in the first inning. In the first Anna Smallwood walked Tomlinson to drive in a run and Parker hit a grand slam off of Smallwood, driving in four runs.
Lebanon Blue Devils Varsity scored five runs in the seventh inning. The big inning was thanks to a single by Aaryn Grace Lester, a single by Anna Bennett, a groundout by Nagelhout, a single by Brittany Harris, and a single.
Home runs for Portland came when Tomlinson homered in the fifth inning and Parker homered in the first inning.
Lebanon Blue Devils Varsity collected 16 hits. Harris, Bennett, Morgan Jones, Megan Jaselskis, Nagelhout, and Macy Lee each collected multiple hits for Lebanon Blue Devils Varsity. Bennett and Harris all had three hits to lead Lebanon Blue Devils Varsity.
Portland had 11 hits in the game. Herrera and Parker each collected multiple hits for Portland. Parker went 2-for-3 at the plate as he led the team with four runs batted in.
