Boys Varsity Track·
LHS Crawford finished 9th, Shields finished 5th, and Britt finished 5th in the finals of the Track and Field State Championship
We had three students compete in the Track and Field Outdoor State Championship. Each one did an amazing job. Tay Crawford qualified for the finals in triple jump and finished 9th in the state.
Nathan Shields finished 5th in the state for pole vault. Aiden Britt also finished 5th in the state in the 2-mile race. Both of them finished with All-State honors and received medals for their performances.
We competed in the very first State Unified Track and Field Championship. The Unified team consisted of 4-6 special needs athletes partnered with 4-6 regular education students who were not part of the schools track team roster. I cannot begin to describe how proud I was of our kids performance. Representing us was Sean Raines, Joe Browne and Hailey Barrett partnered with Breeze Copas and Wyatt Simmons. Now unfortunately because we did not have the required 4 regular ed partners so we couldn’t except the team championship. However, out of the five events we won first place in all but one.
Sean/Breeze -1st in 100m dash
Sean/Breeze – 1st in long jump
Joe/Wyatt – 1st in 200m dash
Hailey/Wyatt – 4th in shot put
Joe, Sean, Wyatt and Breeze – 1st in the 4x100m relay
