Swim Team Competes in Second Meet

The Lebanon High School Swim Team continued its strong start to the season last Friday night with a third-place finish against Green Hill, Cookeville, Mt. Juliet and Heritage Christian. The team collected 4 State and 7 Regional Championship qualifying times along with a season best 8 new personal best swims.

The Girls team collected a win in the 200 Free Relay and a second-place finish in the 200 Medley Relay.  Emma Pierucki swam another State qualifying time in the 200 IM to go along with a Region time in the 100 Backstroke.  Abigail Hopper continued the momentum with two Region swims in the 100 Breaststroke and a personal best in the 50 Free.  Jayce Yarbrough added another Region and personal best swim with her 100 Breaststroke.

The Boys team was not to be outdone with both Walker Orbke and Wade Mathews swimming State times.  Orbke with the 100 Backstroke and a personal best in the 200 IM.  Mathews with a personal best in the 100 Butterfly as well as a Region time in the 100 Backstroke.   Chase Climer and Thomas Poteet brought home the last Region cuts.  Climer in the 100 Backstroke with a personal best and Poteet in the 100 Freestyle.  Climer and Hayden Belcher both set personal bests in the 50 Freestyle.  The Boys team finished second in both relay events.

The team is back in the pool to participate in the MTSC High School Invitational Saturday, February 13th at 8am.  With no spectators allowed due to COVID restrictions.
